Apparently, so did SHE, since she didn't date the entire time she was in high school for that exact reason. To the parents out there that say they would not let there 17 year old daughter date a 20 year old boy. Lets just say YOU THINK you know everything that's happening. when I was in High School I had next to nothing in common with them. Anyway, I also think you're maybe looking for an excuse, or somebody's permission. If she or her parents have a problem you'll find out soon enough, even if you don't ask them.
My son is about to be 20 and his GF just turned 18. They are a good couple and respect her parents rules and wishes..has his own apt. I am sort of refreshed to see them so smitten with one another versus playing the field like some kids do!Nevertheless, it's important to know, in your state, what is legal and what is a crime. have to be honest here,... When i was 20 me and the guys that i hung out with had a rule,..Dont date,..to,.even look at a girl that has TEEN in her age. Now lets say that my oldest was 17 and you wanted to date her,... I would invite you over for dinner,..dont worry about her 6 uncles sitting there in the living room cleaning their shotguns,..are harmless,..unless prevoked. As I said, I've never dated someone younger than me.You would be wise to make sure her parents know about you. This guy is 20 and is actually mature enough to want to do the right thing..you think he would have done that at 17?The worst thing you could do would be to date her without THEIR approval. My daughter has always been more mature than her years, and back when she was 17, I cringed when I thought about her wasting her time and emotional energy on 17 year-old "gomers". Most 17 year old girls are about as mature as a 20 year old boy. I have a 20 year old sister and I've seen how it works.I honestly am not so much looking for permission as I am curious about the thoughts of others. And if you had a daughter you might have a friggin clue, I dated a girl who was only a few months into being 17... I had made an exception in her case, because I had my own little rules for dating anyone more than a couple years younger than me. Her mother loved me, although it helped that her mom knew me. I'm well read, I keep up with the news, I'm active politically, I would rather watch a movie made 50 years before I was born than the latest torture-porn at the theatres.I've pretty much made up my mind to ask her out unless I hear someone with a good reason not to, but I'm just wondering about some opinions.blueberry, all I can say is... The last thing I need are my testicles mounted on a trailor hitch. I'm looking for an actual relationship, not just to get laid. Most 17 year olds are obsessed with scoring and doing drugs nowadays.I really don't see why my being 20 would make you want to kill me. (and feel free to use this gauge for the rest of your life).I would rip off your arms and beat you with the bloody stumps. I wanna kill him i do i do some one help me ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Two problems right off the bat.1.There is a huge difference between 20 and 17 from a maturity point.Real me You may not see anything wrong with dating a co worker but,the simple fact of the matter is many employers do.So much in fact that many have written rules about not dating co workers. But in the few months I've known her, this one seems difference. At the moment I work part time at a fast food place while I go to college. I see nothing wrong with a 20-year-old guy with the maturity level of the Original Poster dating a 17-year-old girl. Remember: if she or they get upset at you and decide to press charges (whether anything happened between you two or not), you will be at their mercy.
