Authentic works of art created by Picasso, Goya, Mazza, Dalí, to name a few, were viewed as part of the visit. As part of the English Language Arts curriculum, 4th grade students at Veterans Park School participated in a collaborative scavenger hunt that took them on a fiction-filled, fun adventure.
It began with students reading a fiction book of their choice and, when finished, creating a poster board that would be the main focus of the scavenger hunt. Fifty-two students from the Ludlow High School Band and Chorus recently traveled to Williamsburg and Norfolk Virginia on a memorable trip- proudly performing at Chrysler Hall, home of the Virginia Symphony.

For the Class of 2022, this ceremony signified the conclusion of the last three years of hard work at the middle school, and the start of their high school journey. Stephen Ziemba (BMS - Psychologist), Brian Bylicki (LHS- Social Studies), Elaine Conway (East - Preschool), Katherine Lynch (East - Kindergarten), Kathleen Williamson (BMS - Grade 6 Reading), Lisa Teixeira (Veterans Park - Grade 4).
Since Eren was an avid reader who loved superheroes, members raised money to purchase and donate a bookcase filled with superhero books, in his memory, to the BMS library. The Baird Middle School band and chorus members, along with BMS band director, Taryn Souza and choral director, Anita Anderson-Cooper, recently participated in a day of musical learning and fun!
The day began with music clinics organized by Ludlow High School band director, Kevin Mc Avoy and choral director, Daniel Henry and ended with an amazing Six Flags adventure! CONGRATS to the 36 current LHS juniors who were awarded a 2018 Junior Book Award.
A shout out of thanks to LUSO Federal Credit Union for funding the project that allowed every staff and family to receive a personal copy of the book. The Veterans Park community gathered on June 19th to hear Principal, Melissa Knowles, announce the grand total raised for this year's FUNd Run- ,418. In addition, Knowles, also proudly presented the 2018 FUNd Run awards for each of the three categories that represent the essence of the event- Charity, Empathy and Grit and some "lucky" staff and students were able to throw a pie in the face of their principal!
Julia and Hannah were selected based on their athletic and academic success and leadership. Baird Middle School 8th grade students- Leo Laguerre and Aislynn Fontaine- for receiving top honors in this year's Massachusetts SIFMA Foundation Invest Write Competition.Leo's essay won 1st place in the statewide Massachusetts Middle School competition and placed 7th in the nation for the fall semester and Aislynn Fontaine’s essay won 1st place in the statewide Massachusetts Middle School competition and placed 9th in the nation for the spring semester. Twenty eight LHS students from the Spanish honors 3 & 4 and AP classes went on a trip to the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford.She created a stop-motion video that highlighted her research on food waste- what is causing the problem and what she would do to solve it.Abbi is pictured with BMS social studies teacher, Anna Baboval, and BMS Principal, Stacy Monette.
